Noida Workers Protest
Noida Workers Protest: Amid escalating tensions during the ongoing workers’ protest in Noida Phase 2, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has raised concerns about a possible “larger conspiracy” behind the unrest. The protests, driven by demands for wage hikes, have intensified over the past few days, with incidents of violence reported from parts of the industrial area.
In a statement issued after a high-level review meeting in Lucknow, Adityanath emphasized that while the welfare of workers remains a top priority for the state government, there are indications that certain elements may be attempting to exploit the situation to disturb public order. He warned that misleading and disruptive forces could be using the protests as a cover to create instability.
The Chief Minister also referred to the broader national context, stating that Naxalism in India is nearly eradicated but attempts to revive such ideologies could be part of a larger plot. According to him, recent protests may have seen the involvement of individuals seeking to incite unrest under the guise of labour rights movements.
Following these developments, authorities have been put on high alert across several major industrial districts in Uttar Pradesh. These include Gautam Buddh Nagar, Ghaziabad, Kanpur, Meerut, Firozabad, Moradabad, Varanasi, and Gorakhpur. Security measures have been tightened to prevent further escalation and ensure law and order is maintained.
At the same time, the Chief Minister has directed officials to take immediate steps to address workers’ concerns. Industrial development authorities have been instructed to initiate dialogue with industry representatives, factory managements, and labour groups within 24 hours. He stressed that genuine grievances related to wages and working conditions must be resolved through fair, transparent, and timely discussions.
On the ground, the protest entered its fourth day on Monday, with large groups of workers gathering to press for salary revisions. However, the demonstrations took a violent turn in certain areas, with reports of stone pelting, vandalism, and even a vehicle being set ablaze. These incidents have heightened concerns among authorities about the potential for further unrest.
Police officials under the Gautam Buddh Nagar Commissionerate have assured that adequate security personnel have been deployed in sensitive zones. Continuous monitoring is being carried out to keep the situation under control. Authorities have also appealed to the public to remain calm and avoid spreading or believing unverified rumours, as efforts continue to restore normalcy.
The situation remains tense but under watch, as the administration balances enforcement with dialogue to defuse the crisis and address the demands of protesting workers.
