Raghav Chadha
A fresh political controversy has erupted within the Aam Aadmi Party as Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha strongly responded to allegations from his own party leaders, who claimed he failed to raise Punjab-related issues in Parliament.
Taking to X, Chadha dismissed the accusations and asserted his deep connection with Punjab, calling it his “duty, soil and soul.” He emphasized that his work in Parliament has consistently reflected the concerns of the state.
Chadha Lists His Parliamentary Efforts
Defending his record, Raghav Chadha highlighted several key issues he has raised, including:
- Advocacy for the Nankana Sahib corridor
- Demand for legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers
- Concerns over depleting groundwater levels in Punjab
- Recommendation to confer Bharat Ratna on Bhagat Singh
He also took a swipe at critics within his party, suggesting that some were “forced” to release videos against him. In a pointed remark, he said this was only a “small trailer,” hinting that more details could follow.
Row Linked to Rajya Sabha Role Removal
The controversy intensified after Chadha was recently removed from the deputy leader position of the Aam Aadmi Party in the Rajya Sabha. Following this, he openly criticized the party leadership, accusing them of trying to suppress his voice.
In response, several party leaders targeted him, alleging that he had been “compromised” and was hesitant to take a stand against Narendra Modi.
Calls Allegations a ‘Coordinated Attack’
Rejecting all claims, Raghav Chadha described the criticism as part of a “scripted campaign.” He pointed out similarities in the language and tone of the accusations, suggesting a coordinated effort to discredit him.
He also denied reports that he refused to walk out of Parliament or declined to sign an impeachment motion against the Chief Election Commissioner.
“At first, I chose not to respond, but when a lie is repeated multiple times, people may start believing it. That is why I decided to speak out,” Chadha said in his post.
Political Tensions Rise Within AAP
The ongoing exchange highlights growing internal tensions within the Aam Aadmi Party. Chadha’s strong rebuttal signals that the rift may deepen further in the coming days, especially as both sides continue to defend their positions publicly.
With Punjab remaining a politically sensitive state for the party, the dispute could have wider implications for its internal unity and public image.
