Dhurandhar 2 OTT Release: The much-awaited OTT release plans for Dhurandhar 2 have finally surfaced, not through an official announcement but during an ongoing legal battle involving the film’s climax song. The blockbuster spy thriller starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar has been dominating the box office since its theatrical release seven weeks ago and is now reportedly preparing for its digital debut.

According to details revealed during a hearing in the Delhi High Court, the makers of Dhurandhar 2 are unlikely to release the film on OTT platforms before mid-May. The information came to light during a copyright dispute involving the remix version of the classic song “Tirchi Topiwale,” which was recreated in the film as “Rang De Laal.”

The controversy began after filmmaker Rajiv Rai, who directed and produced the 1989 film Tridev, accused the makers of Dhurandhar 2 of using the iconic song without proper authorisation. Rajiv Rai filed a legal petition claiming unauthorised usage of the track in the climax sequence of the spy thriller.

Initially, the Delhi High Court advised both parties to resolve the matter through mediation. However, during the latest hearing, the court was informed that mediation efforts had failed. During the proceedings, Super Cassettes, which owns the music rights of Dhurandhar 2, opposed the interim relief sought by the petitioner.

At the same hearing, B62 Films, one of the producers of the movie, informed the court that the film was still performing successfully in theatres and was not expected to arrive on streaming platforms before mid-May. This timeline matches the standard 8-to-10-week theatrical window currently followed by many major Bollywood releases.

The update has generated excitement among fans eagerly waiting to watch the film at home. Dhurandhar 2 will reportedly complete eight weeks in cinemas by May 14, after which its OTT release could happen anytime.

While the first installment of the franchise streamed on Netflix after its theatrical run, the sequel is expected to premiere on JioHotstar. However, the makers have not officially confirmed the exact streaming date yet.

Released earlier this year, Dhurandhar 2 has emerged as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters of all time. The film follows Ranveer Singh as an Indian intelligence agent operating in Karachi and dealing with high-risk international missions. Packed with large-scale action sequences, emotional drama, and patriotic themes, the movie has received strong responses from audiences worldwide.

The film also features an ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun in important roles.

Produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the Dhurandhar franchise has reportedly earned more than ₹3100 crore worldwide across its two installments. Dhurandhar 2 alone has collected nearly ₹1800 crore globally, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films ever.

The film has also broken several Bollywood box-office records, including the highest opening day collection for a Hindi film and the highest domestic net collection in India. It is reportedly the only Hindi movie to cross ₹1000 crore net collection in the domestic market.

With its OTT release now seemingly closer, fans are eagerly waiting for an official announcement from the makers regarding the exact streaming date and platform premiere details.
