iPhone Fold
iPhone Fold: After years of anticipation, Apple is finally expected to enter the foldable smartphone market with its upcoming iPhone Fold. Reports suggest that the device could launch later this year, marking one of the biggest innovations since the original iPhone debuted in 2007.
Although Apple has not officially confirmed any details, ongoing leaks and rumours have provided a clear picture of what to expect. The company may even introduce the device under an “Ultra” branding to highlight its premium positioning.
Design and Build
According to recent leaks, the iPhone Fold will feature a book-style foldable design, similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, but slightly wider and shorter. Apple is reportedly using a liquidmetal hinge, which should enhance durability—an essential factor for foldable devices. The rear is expected to house a dual-camera module.
Display Features
The device is said to include a 7.8-inch inner display and a 5.5-inch outer screen. Both displays may use Samsung’s advanced OLED panels. Interestingly, Apple might skip Face ID on this device and instead offer a side-mounted Touch ID for authentication.
Camera Setup
The iPhone Fold is likely to feature a dual rear camera system, including a 48MP main sensor and a 48MP ultra-wide lens. For selfies, both displays may include punch-hole cameras.
Performance and Battery
The foldable iPhone is expected to run on Apple’s upcoming A20 Pro chipset, delivering improved performance and efficiency. It may come with 12GB RAM and up to 1TB of storage, making it ideal for multitasking.
Battery capacity is expected to range between 5,400mAh and 5,800mAh, potentially the largest ever in an iPhone. The device could also be eSIM-only, eliminating the physical SIM tray to make room for a bigger battery. Additionally, iOS 27 may bring enhanced AI features and a more advanced Siri experience.
Launch and Expected Price
The iPhone Fold is expected to debut in September 2026, possibly alongside the iPhone 18 Pro lineup. The pricing is rumored to be around $2,400 (approximately ₹2.25 lakh), placing it firmly in the ultra-premium category.
