Apple Inc. has expanded its product lineup with the launch of the new iPhone 17e and an upgraded iPad Air powered by the M4 chip. The latest devices bring improvements in performance, durability and storage capacity, catering to users looking for enhanced productivity and entertainment experiences.
iPhone 17e: Price, Storage and Availability
Apple has announced that the iPhone 17e will start at $599. One of the key upgrades this year is storage — the device now comes with 256GB as standard. This marks a significant increase compared to the base storage offered in earlier models like the iPhone 16e and even older devices such as the iPhone 12.
Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e will begin on March 4, with official availability starting March 11. Apple emphasized that the higher base storage ensures users can store more high-resolution photos, 4K videos, applications and games without constantly worrying about running out of space.
Performance Boost with A19 Chip
At the heart of the iPhone 17e is Apple’s latest-generation A19 chip. The company says the new processor is designed to handle demanding tasks such as AAA gaming, seamless 4K streaming and smooth multitasking. Combined with support for iOS 26 and Apple Intelligence, the device aims to deliver a more responsive and efficient user experience.
Apple Intelligence, according to the company, is built to help users communicate, create content and complete everyday tasks more effectively through advanced on-device processing.
48MP Camera and Enhanced Durability
The iPhone 17e features a 48MP Fusion camera system, enabling advanced portrait photography and improved image clarity. Apple claims that the new camera system enhances detail and color accuracy, especially in low-light conditions.
In terms of build quality, the device is equipped with Ceramic Shield 2 protection on the front, which Apple describes as offering three times better scratch resistance compared to the iPhone 16e. The handset also features a durable aluminium frame, USB-C fast charging and MagSafe compatibility.
Battery life has also been improved, with Apple stating that the iPhone 17e is built to support extended daily usage without frequent charging.
New iPad Air with M4 Chip
Alongside the iPhone launch, Apple introduced a new iPad Air powered by the M4 chip. The 11-inch variant starts at $599, and pre-orders also begin on March 4.
The M4 processor is designed to deliver major performance improvements, including advanced graphics capabilities and hardware-accelerated ray tracing. Apple says this makes the device suitable for demanding workflows, creative projects and high-quality gaming.
The iPad Air will be available in two display sizes — 11-inch and 13-inch — both featuring Liquid Retina displays for vibrant visuals and sharp detail.
Productivity and Creative Features
The new iPad Air supports Apple Intelligence and runs on iPadOS, offering what Apple describes as a smooth and intuitive experience. The device is compatible with the Magic Keyboard, which includes a 14-key function row and a larger trackpad for improved usability.
Additionally, the tablet supports Apple Pencil Pro, targeting users who focus on creativity, digital art and precision-based tasks. Apple states that the combination of the M4 chip and iPadOS allows users to manage multitasking, entertainment and professional work seamlessly.
With the launch of the iPhone 17e and the M4-powered iPad Air, Apple continues to refine its ecosystem, offering upgraded storage, performance enhancements and stronger durability across its devices.
