WPL 2026 Auction: 277 Players Shortlisted for 73 Slots, Marquee Stars Lead Intense Bidding Battle

The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 auction is set to bring high-voltage action as the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the official list of shortlisted players. A total of 277 players will go under the hammer for just 73 available spots, making this one of the most competitive WPL auctions to date. The event is scheduled for November 27 in New Delhi, beginning at 3:30 PM IST.

This year’s auction list features a strong mix of domestic and international talent. Of the 277 shortlisted cricketers, 194 are Indian players, including 52 capped and 142 uncapped players, who will compete for 50 domestic slots across the five franchises. The remaining positions will be filled from a pool of 83 overseas players, comprising 66 capped internationals and 17 uncapped overseas talents, fighting for 23 available spots.

The base-price categories reflect a highly competitive lineup. A total of 19 players have placed themselves in the top base-price bracket of ₹50 lakh, making them the most sought-after contenders. The ₹40 lakh bracket includes 11 players, while a significant number—88 players—fall into the ₹30 lakh range, indicating strong interest from emerging and mid-tier performers.

The auction will kick off with the prestigious marquee set, featuring eight of the biggest names in world cricket. Headlining the group are India’s all-rounder Deepti Sharma and pace bowler Renuka Singh, alongside international icons such as Sophie Devine (New Zealand), Sophie Ecclestone (England), Alyssa Healy (Australia), Amelia Kerr (New Zealand), Meg Lanning (Australia), and Laura Wolvaardt (South Africa). Except for Renuka Singh—who has set her base price at ₹40 lakh—all other marquee players have opted for the premium ₹50 lakh category.

With multiple franchises looking to rebuild and bring in fresh firepower, the WPL 2026 auction promises exciting bidding wars, strategic picks, and unexpected surprises. Teams are expected to focus heavily on all-rounders, experienced overseas performers, and rising Indian talents who shone in domestic tournaments throughout the year.

As the countdown begins, fans eagerly await which players will spark bidding battles and which young talents will earn their breakthrough moment on the grand WPL stage.
