The horrifying incident unfolded at Bondi Beach when two armed assailants allegedly fired indiscriminately at people gathered to mark the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah. The attack claimed the lives of at least 12 people, most of whom were reported to be of Israeli origin.
Authorities said the beach was crowded with families, tourists, and festival attendees at the time, turning the celebration into a scene of chaos and panic within moments.
One Attacker Identified, Investigation Ongoing
New South Wales Police have officially termed the shooting a terrorist act and one of the most severe hate-driven attacks in recent Australian history. Preliminary findings suggest that one of the attackers has been identified as Naveed Akram, while the second suspect’s identity is yet to be confirmed.
