Inqilab Moncho Demands Cancel Indian Work Permits

Anti-India sentiment in Bangladesh has intensified following the death of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi. His organisation, Inqilab Moncho, has now given the government a 24-hour ultimatum, demanding that work permits issued to Indian nationals be revoked and placing four urgent demands before authorities.

The group also called for the quick completion of the trial of everyone allegedly linked to Hadi’s murder — including attackers, planners, accomplices, and those accused of helping the suspects escape — within 24 days. The ultimatum was announced in Dhaka’s Shahbagh area by the group’s member secretary, Abdullah Al Jaber.

In a Facebook post, Inqilab Moncho outlined its demands, including:

  1. Completing the trial of the entire “murder network” within 24 days.

  2. Canceling work permits of Indians if the killers are not returned within 24 hours or there is no official statement on their whereabouts.

  3. Filing a case against India at the International Court of Justice if the suspects reportedly sheltering there are not handed over.

  4. Identifying and prosecuting those allegedly shielding the attackers within civil-military intelligence circles.

The demands emerged after Dhaka Metropolitan Police claimed that two key suspects fled to India through the Haluaghat border area in Mymensingh, which connects to Meghalaya. Meanwhile, protests and road blockades continue across Bangladesh as supporters of Hadi press for justice.

Rising diplomatic tensions

Amid mounting protests, India voiced concern over recent attacks in Bangladesh — including the killing of two Hindu men — stating that those responsible must be held accountable. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal condemned the violence and called it deeply troubling.

Bangladesh’s foreign ministry, however, rejected allegations of systematic persecution, saying isolated crimes were being amplified to fuel anti-Bangladesh narratives and create hostility toward the country and its institutions.
