Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna, two actors who have staged impressive comebacks in recent years, may reunite on screen if a sequel to the 2002 thriller Humraaz moves forward. Producer Ratan Jain has confirmed that he is open to making Humraaz 2 — but only if the right story falls into place.
Over the past few years, Bobby Deol has reinvented himself through intense roles. His performances in Aashram and Class of ’83 reminded audiences of his range, while his menacing turn in Animal cemented his return to mainstream conversation. Akshaye Khanna, meanwhile, earned praise with his cold and calculating characters in Chhaava (2025) and Dhurandhar, where his portrayal of Rehman Dakait quickly became a fan favourite.
The two last worked together under directors Abbas–Mustan in Humraaz, a film remembered for its gripping storyline and unexpected twists. With Bollywood increasingly leaning on sequels and franchise building, speculation over a follow-up has grown naturally.
Producer weighs the possibilities
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama, Ratan Jain acknowledged the anticipation — but stressed that casting alone cannot drive the decision.
“I can make Humraaz 2 if I get the right script for these two actors,” he said. “We need a story where they truly fit, with roles that respect their experience and are age-appropriate.”
Jain added that both stars are professionals he enjoys collaborating with. “Bobby is a pleasure to work with and so is Akshaye. Let Akshaye settle for some time after the huge success he’s seeing — then we’ll see how things shape up.”
Respect, friendship — and careful choices
Jain also shared that he hopes to meet Akshaye Khanna soon to discuss future possibilities. He believes Khanna deserves projects that fully utilise his talent — but also recognises why the actor remains selective.
“Akshaye has always been like this,” Jain explained. “Money is secondary to him. If he’s not convinced by a script, he simply won’t do it.”
That philosophy, industry watchers say, may ultimately shape whether Humraaz 2 becomes a reality.
Recent release and future plans
Beyond sequel talk, Jain recently released Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon 2 starring Kapil Sharma. While audiences responded positively, the film suffered from limited screen availability due to competition from larger multiplex releases. The team has therefore planned a re-release in January 2026 in hopes of reaching a wider audience.
For now, Humraaz 2 remains an exciting “maybe” — contingent on creative alignment rather than nostalgia alone. If a compelling script emerges, fans could see Bobby Deol and Akshaye Khanna sharing screen space again, two decades after the original thriller first captivated viewers.
