Smith, who has over 9,000 followers on Instagram, described her outfit as a “short, form-fitting look” consisting of a white tie-front shirt paired with blue denim jeans.
According to Smith, she initially noticed unusual reactions from other park visitors, including stares and whispered comments, before any staff intervention took place. She later alleged that a Disney employee approached her to inform her that some guests had raised concerns about her attire, suggesting it might be considered inappropriate for a family-friendly environment.
The influencer said the interaction came as a surprise, as she believed her clothing choice was relatively modest and appropriate for a casual outing. “It’s something I would normally wear on trips or in other places. I didn’t think it would cause this kind of reaction there,” she explained. She also expressed disappointment that people chose to complain rather than speak to her directly.
Disney’s official dress code guidelines for guests aged 14 and above prohibit clothing that exposes “excessive portions of the skin” or may be deemed unsuitable for a family-oriented setting. While the rules are broadly defined, they are enforced at the discretion of park staff to maintain a comfortable environment for all visitors.
Despite the warning, Smith said she was allowed to continue enjoying her day at the park without further issues. She emphasized that there was no direct confrontation with other guests, but noted that the situation stood out due to the way people reacted.
Later, Smith shared a photo of herself wearing the outfit in question, posing in front of the iconic Disney castle. She captioned the image: “Not every princess wants to be saved… some write their own story,” turning the moment into a statement about individuality and self-expression.
The incident has reignited ongoing discussions about dress code enforcement at theme parks, particularly at Disney properties, where family-friendly standards are strictly maintained.
A similar controversy emerged recently involving Nicole Arena, a U.S.-based personal trainer, who claimed she was denied access to a ride at Disney’s Epcot due to her outfit. Arena said she was asked to either purchase a T-shirt or leave the queue after waiting for nearly an hour.
She documented her experience in a series of videos posted on TikTok, explaining that she was wearing a white sports bra and black leggings—an outfit she described as standard gym attire. Arena defended her clothing choice, stating that nothing inappropriate was exposed and criticizing those who labeled her outfit as unsuitable.
