Ayodhya Security Alert: Ayodhya witnessed a brief security alert on Saturday afternoon after a man from Kashmir allegedly attempted to offer namaz inside the Ram Temple complex, leading to his immediate detention by security personnel. The incident occurred in the high-security southern perimeter of the Ram Janmabhoomi complex, an area under constant surveillance due to the religious and symbolic importance of the site.
According to preliminary information, the man entered the Ram Temple complex through Gate D1 as a visitor. After completing his visit, he reportedly attempted to offer Islamic prayers near the southern boundary of the complex, close to the Sita Rasoi area. Security personnel on duty noticed his actions and intervened promptly. When stopped, the man allegedly raised slogans, further escalating concerns among the security staff.
Following the intervention, the individual was detained on the spot and taken into custody. He was later brought to the Ram Janmabhoomi police outpost located within the temple complex. Senior security officials were informed immediately, and multiple agencies initiated questioning to understand the intent and background of the accused.
At present, intelligence agencies and local police teams are jointly interrogating the man under the supervision of SP Security Balramachari Dubey. Officials are examining whether the act was a deliberate attempt to provoke communal tension or an isolated incident without wider implications. Security agencies are also verifying his travel history, communication records, and purpose of visit to Ayodhya.
Despite the seriousness of the incident, no official statement has been released so far by the district administration or the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust. Police and administrative officials have also refrained from formally confirming details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation. However, sources within the security establishment indicated that standard protocols were followed and the situation was brought under control swiftly, with no disturbance to temple activities or devotees.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that the detained individual has been identified as AB Ahad Sheikh, a 56-year-old resident of Vodapora village in the Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. He is reportedly the son of Ismail Sheikh. Authorities have not yet officially confirmed his identity, and verification processes are underway.
The incident comes amid heightened security arrangements at the Ram Temple complex, which continues to draw large numbers of devotees from across the country. Security agencies remain on high alert to prevent any actions that could disrupt communal harmony or public order in the temple town.
Officials have emphasized that further details will be shared only after the completion of preliminary questioning and verification. Until then, the man remains in custody as agencies assess all aspects of the incident.
