Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates, delivered an emotional message calling for unity and reassurance after visiting people injured during recent regional security incidents. In a televised address broadcast on Abu Dhabi TV, the leader asked residents to forgive any shortcomings while assuring them that the country will protect everyone living within its borders.
The statement came during a period of heightened anxiety in the Gulf region as tensions escalate between Iran, Israel, and the United States. The speech marked the president’s first public message following a series of missile and drone interceptions linked to the ongoing conflict.
Recent incidents, including falling debris from aerial interceptions, have caused damage in parts of Dubai and reportedly resulted in at least one fatality. In his address, Sheikh Mohamed emphasised resilience and assured citizens and residents that the government remains committed to defending the nation and ensuring public safety.
Visit to injured patients
Before delivering his televised message, Sheikh Mohamed visited people injured during the recent incidents who are currently being treated at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City in Abu Dhabi.
During the visit, he spoke with patients and medical staff, wishing the injured a speedy recovery and thanking healthcare workers for their efforts during the crisis. Images from the hospital showed the UAE president interacting with patients and offering words of encouragement to their families.
Officials said the visit reflected the leadership’s commitment to supporting those affected and ensuring that emergency response systems and healthcare services remain fully prepared during the crisis.
Message of resilience and reassurance
In his televised address, Sheikh Mohamed acknowledged the concerns that many residents feel amid the ongoing regional tensions. He urged people to remain calm and united, while also asking for patience if any challenges arise as authorities manage the situation.
At the same time, he delivered a strong message about the country’s security readiness. The UAE, he said, remains resilient and determined to defend itself against any threat.
He also emphasised that the government’s responsibility extends not only to Emirati citizens but also to the millions of expatriates who live and work in the country. Stressing the UAE’s inclusive society, he said residents are considered part of the national family.
Rising tensions across the Gulf
The president’s remarks come during one of the most volatile moments in the Middle East in recent years. The crisis intensified after military strikes involving the United States and Israel on Iranian targets, which reportedly triggered retaliatory missile and drone launches from Iran across the region.
Several Gulf countries, including the UAE, activated advanced air defence systems to intercept incoming projectiles. While most threats were neutralised in the air, debris from interceptions has caused damage in some locations.
In Dubai, fragments reportedly struck areas including Dubai Marina and Al Barsha. In one incident, a vehicle was hit, resulting in the death of a Pakistani driver.
UAE’s defence response
The UAE has deployed sophisticated air defence systems designed to detect and intercept missiles and drones before they reach populated areas. These systems rely on radar tracking networks, interceptor missiles, and coordinated military units operating around the clock.
Authorities have also issued public safety alerts advising residents to remain indoors temporarily during interception operations to reduce risk from falling debris.
Beyond military preparedness, the president’s message focused strongly on social unity. The UAE is home to residents from more than 200 nationalities, making it one of the world’s most diverse societies. During times of regional instability, officials say maintaining social stability and public confidence becomes crucial.
Looking ahead
Sheikh Mohamed’s message quickly spread across television and social media platforms in the UAE, prompting reactions from residents who expressed appreciation for the reassurance and leadership shown during the tense period.
For many expatriates, his statement emphasising that residents are “part of the family” carried particular significance, reinforcing the country’s message of inclusivity.
While the UAE continues to monitor developments related to the Iran–US–Israel tensions, security agencies, emergency services and healthcare systems remain on high alert. Diplomatic efforts across the region are also ongoing as global leaders call for de-escalation.
By visiting injured patients, acknowledging public concerns and promising strong national defence, Sheikh Mohamed sought to reassure the country during a time of heightened regional uncertainty.
