Veteran actor M. M. Faruqui, popularly known as Lilliput, recently shared his candid opinion about Shah Rukh Khan and his film choices, particularly discussing the 2018 film Zero. Although the film received appreciation from some viewers for Shah Rukh’s performance as a man with dwarfism, Lilliput admitted that he personally did not enjoy the movie.
Lilliput says Zero did not impress him
During a conversation on Siddharth Kannan’s YouTube show, the 75-year-old actor spoke openly about Shah Rukh Khan’s career, stardom, and film selections. The host also referred to Lilliput’s earlier comments suggesting that Shah Rukh sometimes ends up choosing weak scripts, mentioning films like Zero and Jawan.
Standing by his remarks, Lilliput compared Shah Rukh with Aamir Khan, noting that Aamir is widely known for having a strong instinct when it comes to selecting scripts. According to him, after watching several of Shah Rukh’s films, it often appears that the superstar does not always demonstrate the same level of script judgment.
He said that while Shah Rukh is extremely sincere and dedicated to his work, not everyone necessarily has a sharp sense of script selection. Lilliput added that there is nothing wrong with that, as many people in the industry rely on others for choosing the right stories.
Even big stars can make mistakes
Lilliput also emphasised that even the biggest stars in the industry are not immune to mistakes. Success and popularity do not guarantee flawless decisions in filmmaking.
According to him, while Shah Rukh Khan is highly committed to his projects, the responsibility of picking scripts could sometimes be handled by trusted collaborators rather than the actor alone.
Interestingly, Lilliput has worked with Shah Rukh in the past. The two shared screen space in films like Swades and Dulha Mil Gaya, where the veteran actor appeared in supporting roles.
Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film
Meanwhile, Shah Rukh Khan is preparing for his next major release, the action thriller King. The film is directed by Siddharth Anand, who previously collaborated with the superstar on the blockbuster Pathaan.
The project has already created strong buzz as it will feature Shah Rukh in a darker and action-heavy role, reportedly playing a powerful underworld figure who guides a young woman through a dangerous world.
The film will also star his daughter Suhana Khan, marking their first big-screen collaboration after her debut in The Archies. Reports suggest that actors like Rani Mukerji, Deepika Padukone, Anil Kapoor and Jackie Shroff will also appear in important roles. The film is expected to release in theatres during the Christmas holiday season this year.
