Aleema Khan, sister of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, has accused the Pakistan government of launching a “pre-planned political vendetta” against her family and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI). The remarks come shortly after she ended her sit-in protest near Adiala Jail, where Imran Khan is currently incarcerated.
Aleema claimed that the authorities have already decided to arrest her, despite the absence of any legal grounds. “They have decided to put me in jail without any judgment. There is no court order, no trial, and no legal basis,” she alleged, citing information shared by top intelligence sources.
Accusations of Misusing State Institutions
According to intelligence inputs, Aleema accused the government of weaponising state institutions to suppress Imran Khan’s family and the PTI leadership. She alleged that due process is being denied, even as reports suggest the government is attempting to curb public dissent amid rising anger over Imran Khan’s treatment inside Adiala Jail.
Aleema further alleged that the campaign against her family includes “economic strangulation.” She claimed her bank accounts were frozen without any prior notice or court order, calling it an attempt to pressure the family financially.
She warned that these actions form part of a broader crackdown aimed at weakening PTI leadership and preventing them from mobilising political support. She added that her anticipated arrest appears to be timed with ongoing protests in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab, suggesting officials are trying to prevent large-scale demonstrations by detaining key family figures in advance.
Concerns Over Imran Khan’s Treatment in Jail
Her accusations come amid heightened public concern regarding Imran Khan’s alleged torture and isolation inside prison. Intelligence sources indicate that the government may be acting “out of fear” due to increasing public anger over the former PM’s condition.
Aleema stated that the authorities aim to silence all voices raising concerns about Imran Khan’s health, especially after repeated attempts by his sisters to visit him were blocked. This escalating tension recently led to a dramatic standoff — a sit-in protest outside Adiala Jail’s Gorakhpur checkpost.
The protest caused significant disruption, leading to traffic jams affecting commuters, ambulances, and school vans. The sit-in ended only after negotiations with police, who reportedly assured Aleema and PTI leaders that they would facilitate meetings with the former prime minister.
